Stanley A. Fonder, President of SMJ Contracting, Inc. has been a principal since January 1998 and has been responsible for guiding operations since January 2000. Mr. Fonder was fortunate to be introduced to construction at an early age and knew building offered many rewards. The spirit of accomplishment helped fuel his desire to pursue and achieve a bachelors of science degree in Construction Management at Spring Garden College in Pennsylvania. Several years of field and office experience were performed and Mr. Fonder later enrolled at Saint Joseph’s University and obtained a master’s degree in business administration.
Applying valued Jesuit education and many years of field experience, Mr. Fonder remains focused on continuing SMJ Contracting, Inc.’s growth. Growth for SMJ comes in many forms i.e., internal growth of company associates, quality standards and expectations of associates, and customer retention and satisfaction. Stewardship is a term rarely used in corporate America but clearly defines current leadership at SMJ. Mr. Fonder mentors associates that “we are Blessed to manage the company today and on a short term basis, preparing and building for the next generation of company leadership."
Jack Ayres, Vice President of SMJ Contracting, Inc. has dedicated his entire career to the construction industry. With 36 years of experience, Mr. Ayres continues to embrace the ever changing dynamics of the industry. As a graduate of Roxborough High School in Philadelphia, Mr. Ayres immediately entered into the construction trade. Mr. Ayres took up courses in Civil Engineering to enrich his education with construction. Mr. Ayres also has extensive safety trainings, OSHA training, CPR and First Aid, and is certified in asbestos abatement.
Mr. Ayres performs estimating as well as project management with mostly the larger commercial projects. Mr. Ayres truly believes in team building within the company, as this is a testament to SMJ Contracting, Inc.’s success. Mr. Ayres also strives for well rounded relationships with subcontractors, to ensure exceptional quality, timely project completions, competitive budgeting, as well as safe working environments. While not at work, Mr. Ayres enjoys the time with his fiancé, children, grandchildren, and an occasional round of golf with friends and / or associates. Mr. Ayres also enjoys softball, playing drums, and diving with great white sharks.
