In 1976, SMJ Contracting, Inc. began as a small construction company focused on meeting the needs of homeowners in Pottstown and local insurance companies.

Over the past 40 years, SMJ Contracting, Inc. has evolved into a commercial general contracting firm serving the tri-state area. Our client base has expanded to include all facets of the commercial sector. In August of 1997, Stanley A, Fonder joined the company and a re-building phase began by taking SMJ Contracting, Inc. into larger and more complex projects. In January of 1998, Mr. Fonder began the process of purchasing the firm and a growth period ensued. The new growth included private and public sector projects, i.e., retail/commercial, schools, colleges, post offices, county detention centers, as well as personnel changes. As a result, fifty percent of SMJ Contracting, Inc.’s work is done for repeat customers (clients) who appreciate our dedication and team approach.
